Free-ish: Bulletin board design

I know lots of folks love bulletin board kits that you can order from Cokesbury or other publishers, but they really aren’t my style. I’d rather make something and use it as an opportunity to reflect with my youth.

This bulletin board was easy to make and has hung outside our youth room for nearly 3 years. Grace never goes out of style or out of season, and the world is always full of insanity. The abundance of grace amidst the crazy is always something I’m trying to reinforce with my youth.

For this project, we cut newspapers into weird shapes and decoupaged them onto poster board with Mod-Podge. Next time we do something similar, I plan rip the papers into more irregular shapes so that the newspaper is less readable. Choose the size of the poster board based on the bulletin board you need to fill. Once you’ve done one or two layers of newspaper and it’s dry, use a foam brush and black paint to write the words. I traced out my words with pencil first to make sure it was centered-ish. Display proudly.
