Devotional craft-along videos

Youth ministry friends,

I am not a skilled creator of videos, but I know that as we all keep trying to find ways to engage our beloved youthies, we are all rapidly learning new things.

As a way to give my youth some mid-week opportunities to reflect on their faith and keep zoomin’ to a minimum, I created these virtual craft-along devotions for the kids to do on their own time this Fall. I prepped bags of supplies for them to pick up early in the semester and then shared these videos for them to do some creative projects on their own time. Two of them would be easily adaptable for Advent (the candle and the weaving), though you’re welcome to use any of them as is or to make your own versions! The supplies I included for each project, and other readily accessible supplies needed from home, are listed below each video. Videos also include a short devotional monologue.

Supplies in bag: LED votive candle. Supplies needed from home: food coloring, glue, clean glass jar, sponge, or paint brush.

Supplies in bag: embroidery hoop, loooooong piece of white yarn for the warp threads. Supplies needed from home: string, yarn, old fabric, old t-shirts, ribbon, etc. (demonstration of making t-shirt yarn included in video)

Supplies in bag: rock (yes), small connected pots of acrylic paint, Q-tips. Supplies needed from home: toothpicks, pencils, pens, or other sources of differently-sized circles.
